The right to information Act. No 12 of 2016
The Hatharaliyadda Divisional Secretariat is bound to implement provisions of the right to information Act. No 12 of 2016 passed by Parliament of Sri Lanka on 04 August 2016 and requests to receive information from this office should be made to the below mentioned information officer using the RTI application. (The provision of this application is not essential)

1. The written application or a letter or a verbal request to receive information should be forwarded to the information officer. Then, please receive a letter to the effect that the officer received such request.
2. You are informed within 14 days whether the relevant information to your request can be provided or not.
3. If the information you requested is decided to issue and,
- If a fee stipulated by the commission should be paid, you are informed the same and the information will be provided within 14 days after the payment.
- If a fee should not be paid, the information will be provided within 14 days.
4. If it is difficult to issue information within 14 days after the payment, the information you requested will be provided within an additional period, not more than 21 days, by stating the reason for the extension by the officer.
5. In a situation in which requests for information are made to receive information on any citizen’s life and private freedom, such requests will be responded within 48 hours of the receipt of the request.
6. If dissatisfaction arises from
- any request for information being refused,
- refusal to provide an opportunity for the access of any information due to the information absolved by providing under section 5 of the Act,
- inconformity with the definite time periods mentioned in the Act,
- providing incomplete, misleading or inaccurate information,
- charging more fees,
- the provision of information in the requested format being rejected by the information officer,
- the reasonable facts possessed by the citizen to the effect that the said information is distorted, destroyed or displaced to prevent the said citizen from accessing the said information,
please appeal to the aforementioned officer within 14 days.
